Time of Service: 11:00 p.m.

HAKS Leonardus M.T.B (Leo) The effervescent Leo was always brimming with enthusiasm, curiosity and self confidence. He has allowed himself to depart this world and fly to a better place. Leo lived life to the full and at great pace. He accepted the responsibility of nurturing and protecting rare cultural material that had often been ignored by mainstream museums. He travelled widely to collect, salvage and bring it to the eyes of the people through many exhibitions and publications around the world. His main aim always, was to get the material into museums, educational institutes and places of easy access for all people to study and enjoy. Areas of specialist expertise included Chinese Celestial Art, Indonesian painting (1930s) and early photography. He proudly chose to become a Kiwi and enriched our lives in so many ways. Leo will be greatly missed. His dedicated work and respect for all has provided an enduring legacy for us to remember him by, always. Our warm thanks and highest regards are for the many people who cared for him in his final years in Nelson: Family and close friends, Dr Gil Harker, Dr Jo Tooby and staff at Rata Medical, Collingwood Pharmacy, Nelson Hospital - ED, ENT, Oncology, Urology, ICU and AT&R., Presbyterian Support Services, and the kindest of care at Tasman Rest Home. Leo passed away on January 30th, 2021 in Nelson. He was born in Zeist, The Netherlands in 1940. Leo was the much loved partner and best friend of Colleen Dallimore, special 'Opa' to Ben & Jasmine, Elise & Marley. Loved brother in law of Wayne & Lynne, Rob & Pam.
